We are a K-12 public school district with an elementary school (grades K-5), a middle school (grades 6-8) and a high school (grades 9-12), all located on one campus on Bible Road in Lima, Ohio. Our district employs approximately 200 staff members, and serves approximately 1900 students and their families. Located in Allen County, Ohio, the Bath Local School district encompasses 43 miles and includes the village of Cairo.
Bath Local Schools offer a challenging academic program to all our students, placing them on a pathway that will set them up for success beyond their school years. We partner with Marimor Industries, Apollo Career Center, the Allen County Board of DD, Rhodes State College, The Ohio State University-Lima, University of Findlay, Ohio Northern University, Bowling Green University and UNOH to help our students reach their full potential. 70% of our teachers hold a master’s degree or higher and have an average of 15 years of teaching experience.
At the high school, we offer a wide array of academic and social opportunities to our students. In the 2021-2022 school year, Bath High School offered 60 semester hours of college credit, all taught right here on our campus by our teachers. Each year we have approximately 160 students high school students participating in the College Credit Plus program. In addition to our academics, BHS is proud to offer several social opportunities to our students: National Honor Society, Student Council, Interact Club, Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Yearbook, E-Sports, Academic Quiz Bowl, Envirothon, The Pawprint Newspaper and Newscast. You can find our student led Paw Print Newscast weekly on You Tube.
The staff of Bath Middle School bring an average of 16 years of teaching experience to our students, and proudly offers honor-level classes to students in grades 6, 7, and 8, with Algebra I and Spanish I offered to qualifying 8th grade students for high school credit. Every 8th grade student is issued a laptop and is permitted to take them home for academic use, while each classroom in grades 6 and 7 are equipped with laptops for every student. Bath Middle School continues to place an increased emphasis on career education. The Ohio Department of Education has developed 16 various clusters for students and the staff at BMS are certified to provide information to our students in each of these 16 clusters. An exciting change to our career education plan is the addition of the Naviance program. Naviance is a college and career readiness software program that partners with K-12 institutions to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools. All middle school students will be involved in this college and career readiness program beginning this school year. The career education instruction takes place within the regular school day schedule. Students move from one career cluster to another on a scheduled rotation. It is our goal that after completing 8th grade, students will have received valuable career information in 16 different career fields. While we do not expect students in the middle school to make career decisions, we hope to provide them with information that may provoke thoughts about possible careers in the future.
Our elementary school serves students in grades K-5 in a newly constructed building, opened in 2015. We honor our elementary students for positive behavior and good citizenship as well as hold class meetings weekly to work on being a bully free school. The Newscats team, comprised of twelve 5th grade students, records and produces school news to be aired in house every two weeks. Bath Elementary School also boasts a hands-on science lab for our 1st- 5th grade students. The science lab also includes an outdoor area for students to work.
Bath Local Schools is host to a strong music department, with solid support from the Bath Band Boosters. You will find the “Tradition of Excellence” band on our football field Friday nights and the pep band entertaining fans during home basketball games. Band and choir are offered to every student grades 5-12. We are a member of the Western Buckeye League (WBL) and have a long tradition of competitive athletic teams with record setting coaches.
